A study of sorts done on Darwin by combining two different pictures together.  This  was used for the pose reference. This  was used for the color reference.

The dryads of the forest are alluring, dark and mysterious; part of the living stream where all things grow from. They may resemble humans in form and traits, but never assume them to be one. The soils of the forest are littered with the bones of those who did so.

I had a vague idea of having a marble dragon come to life from a sorceress; and it became this. It looks like it could be for a Chinese New Year greeting card.

Project X: Helsing Concept

Early concept for Abraham Van Helsing, one of the main characters for Project X. He is the ultimate scholar; calm, austere, ascetic, enlightened. Knowledge to him is everything and he resembles a vampire in his thirst for it. Lives, family and even souls are mere commodities to be traded for it. On him are the best armory money can buy and human hands can built. Initially he was designed to be thin and expressionless. However, I was influenced by Alexander Anderson from Hellsing to create a bulkier and more menacing version of him.

Project X: Infected Elsa

Early concept of Elsa infected by the seed of Lilith. The mechanical parts of her transmogrify and intertwine with the Lilith's biology to produce a demented and tortured version of her.

Project X: Elsa Early Concept

Early concept for Elsa Fieldings, one of the main characters for Project X. She is very British and (to her peers) unseemingly adventuresome. However, beneath her proper deposition and strong, English sensibilities lies a wrecked body partially replaced by clockwork mechanics. She has no clue to what have happened and seeks to find out what demented accident could have occurred to result in her unnatural state.

The Realms: Krauger

While most goblins in the Realms are peace loving, introverted artisans, Krauger is not. Regarded to be the Napoleon of goblins; he is vicious, cunning, power hungry and quite insane.It doesn't help that he has an enormous (and very loyal) army that serves behind him. And, oh, a certain other goblin that resides in a particular inn happens to be his nephew as well.

Ummm... An emperor or eunuch, oriental, sorcerer... insect thing..? Not very sure where this came from but its always fun drawing weird creature once a while. :)

The Realms: Goblin

Goblin character from the Realms. His small frame and bookish looks belie a warrior's heart and a poet's soul. Sadly, the world he lives in has few places for such creatures. To survive,he fake his own death and masquerades as maître d’ or (when occasion calls for it) a bouncer for the inn. His armour is made out of a mishmash of buckets and bowls found in the storeroom of the inn. He is a recycler not a waster.

Studies: Cheetah

This study was based on a National Geographic photograph I found online. I was learning about cats and how to paint fur.

This one just started from a sketch. However it took a life of its own and evolved to a full illustration. Was going for a portrait of a female fantasy character. Haven't decide whether she is a human or an elf yet though.

This one started as a sort of pose and anatomy study but I added a cloak and some fire and BLAM!.. She became the Red Witch..! :) At the back of my head I was probably thinking of the 'Queen of Blood' from the Hellboy comic series.

Studies: Celebrities

Studies based on celebrities. The first one is the beautiful Emily Blunt. I went for a slightly more illustrative, comic style for her. The one below is Rihanna. I enjoyed painting the leather vest and its folds. :)

Studies: Clouds

Some simple studies. The goal here was to learn about the different shapes, edges, density, volumes as well as colours of clouds. Reference pictures were stock photos taken off the internet.
